Martin Sheehan

Martin Sheehan, a long-time summer resident of Point Lookout, died on May 5, 2015. He leaves behind Maria, his beloved wife of 57 years, his children Martin, Mara, Matthew and Madalena, and sisters Josephine and Marion.

Marty was born in the Bronx in 1930 and more recently lived in Bay Ridge Brooklyn during the winter. But we were blessed to have him and his family as outstanding community members throughout the summers here in Point Lookout.

Marty graduated from Power Memorial Academy and Fordham University. He served his country during the Korean War, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. In Brookyn Marty served as President of the Home School Association and was active in his church and his union. He served as a reader at The Xavier Society of the Blind.

When down at the Point Marty was a constant presence, playing a leading role in coaching Little League baseball and serving as a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal church where every Sunday he volunteered as an usher. He also coached jn the OLA CYO basketball league.

A welcoming smile was Marty's trademark. Whether at community affairs or in church or on the ballfield Marty was a true and loyal friend and neighbor. He will be missed.
